Evangelina's Closet

Another Thursday bring us another Exquisite Friend of the Week. Today we'll have the opportunity to meet Nikki and her fabulous store named Evangelina's Closet. She creates unique jewelry and clothing that are fun to wear.

Let's meet Nikki!

Pelhuaz: What's your name?
Nikki: Nikki

Pelhuaz: If you were on an island and could only bring 3 things, what would you bring?
Nikki: My daughter, my jewelry making kit and a fully staffed five star hotel

Pelhuaz: If we came to your house for dinner, what would you prepare for us?
Nikki: I have takeout on speed dial- What would you like?

Pelhuaz: If you were a Star Trek® [or Star Wars®] character, which one would it be?
Nikki: Princess Leia- Who wouldn't want to be a princess with a blaster?

Pelhuaz: What do you do when you are alone in your car?
Nikki: I do the usual things; sing to myself, carry on a one sided conversation about what project I'm working on, remember all the things I forgot to bring with me, work on my lines for the latest community theater production I'm in....

Pelhuaz: What's your superpower?
Nikki: Multitasking

Pelhuaz: Who do you consider your sidekick?
Nikki: My Golden Retriever Luna

Women's Dinosaur Fashion Bracelet

Pelhuaz: What is your favorite item available at your store? Provide a pic link.
Nikki: My favorites change all the time. Right now my new line of animal jewelry is a favorite this Women's Dinosaur Fashion Bracelet

Pelhuaz: What do you wish you had known before you started?
Nikki: I wish I would have had a better handle on social media and networking. It is such a major part of owning a successful small business and I was totally clueless when I started out.

Pelhuaz: When did you open your Store (anniversary)?
Nikki: 2/17/2012

Pelhuaz: What motivates/inspires you?
Nikki: I'm inspired by things I see every day. If you're standing behind me in line at the grocery store and say something funny, you may see it on a t-shirt a week later. Or my daughter will ask me for a certain bracelet or shirt and it will turn into the latest design in my shop.

Pelhuaz: Imagine that I’m planning to open Pelhuaz, and I don’t know a thing about managing a Small Business, what will be your best advice?
Nikki: Just get started. Period. Planning is great, planning is necessary. But you can only plan so much before you DO. If you aren't careful you'll plan your life away and never get to the doing portion of things. That's where the fun is.

Pelhuaz: What's the name of your Small Business?
Nikki: Evangelina's Closet

Pelhuaz: Why did you decide to open it?
Nikki: I was suddenly an unemployed single parent. I had a heat press, a lot of geeky design ideas and a need to support my little family.

Nikki and Evangelina's Closet can be found in Facebook, IG and Tumblr. Visit her and let her know that Pelhuaz sent you.

Hope your day is full of great moments. Enjoy!

Zei

Times is running fast!

Another Happy Monday! Can you imagine that I'm just 8 week away from my due date? The house is almost ready, and I haven't been able to make the Welcome Party for Jorge Sebastian.

As the weirdo that I am, I'm not a fan of Baby Showers and the games and the silly stuff. I do love having everyone around, the get-together, the BBQ's, and spending time with our family and friends. As that's the case, I'm planning a BBQ that will be the Welcome Party for the Baby Boy. In that way the family and friends can bring their gifts without the annoying part of the games.

This week at the Exquisite Friend of the Week, I have a new interview with a new friend. She creates unique jewelry and clothing that are fun to wear. Don't missed it!

Besos,

Zei

Pelhuaz Exquisite Friend of the Week: Móhu

The first time I saw a Fluffy Llama, I felt in love with Lauren's work. She's a talented artist that make so many beautiful things with a fabulous and unique style. I was a little timid to ask her for an interview, but she's so great that said yes without hesitations... Yay! And this is more exciting as tomorrow is Móhu Store Anniversary. Congratulations!!!!!!

Today, I will introduce you to Lauren and her fabulous shop Móhu.

Pelhuaz: What's your name?
Lauren: Lauren

Pelhuaz: Describe yourself in 5 words?
Lauren: Small, quiet, shy, creative, wooly

Pelhuaz: If you could sing one song on American Idol or any other TV Show, what would it be?
Lauren: Swing life Away' by Rise Against

Pelhuaz: If you were on an island and could only bring 3 things, what would you bring?
Lauren: My husband, wool, and knitting needles.

Pelhuaz: If we came to your house for dinner, what would you prepare for us?
Lauren: Teriyaki flavour chicken, with steamed Jasmine rice, and stir-fried vegetables.

Pelhuaz: If you were a Star Trek® [or Star Wars®] character, which one would it be?
Lauren: Yoda

Pelhuaz: What is the last book you read?
Lauren: The Complete Sherlock Holmes.

Pelhuaz: Tell us about your Small Business… Why did you decide to open Móhu?
Lauren: My small business is called Móhu. I make and sell various cute things, like crocheted soft toys, dainty jewellery, stationery, and art. Móhu started off as a side project, just for fun. I really enjoyed it, so after a while it turned into a proper business.

Pelhuaz: What is your favorite item available at Móhu?
Lauren: It's hard to choose, but this little crocheted deer is one of my favorites, a Little Deer:

Pelhuaz: What do you wish you had known before you started?
Lauren: There are lots of things that you learn along the way when running a business. Branding, product design, and photography are some things that I didn't know much about when I started. But I really enjoy the process of learning, and it wouldn't be nearly as fun and interesting if I knew them all to begin with.

Pelhuaz: When is your Store Anniversary?
Lauren: Jul 25

Pelhuaz: Imagine that I’m planning to open Pelhuaz, and I don’t know a thing about managing a Small Business, what will be your best advice?
Lauren: It's important to have a goal or direction when you start a business. That way, all your decisions can be made based on that direction. It's also good to be open to learning and changing. Read everything you can about managing a business, and learn from others who are more experienced.

I always shared my favorites after looking around the shops but I love the Llamas, so I didn't have to look further to pick this one... :)

This is the cutest thing EVER!

Jasmine: To never give up and keep going because there were a few times that i did want to quit and stop making jewelry, because i would see so many people with pieces way better or much beautiful then mine but you cant think like that you have to keep your head up and keep going if you have a true passion for what you are love.
